When did I get so old??

I realized the other day that there is something really wrong with me. I can remember back in the good ol' days when, as I turned on the television in the evening, there was really only one option worth viewing, Sportscenter (unless, of course, Baseball Tonight was on). It didn't used to matter to me what sport was on the Deuce or FSN, it was way better than the ridiculous stuff on all the other channels. As a matter of fact, I do think that the entire reason I opted for cable television in the first place was for those three channels.

Now, my lovely bride will often go to bed as I flip back and forth between the knuckleheads on Fox News and MSNBC. The other night I watched the Senate vote on cloture for the health care fiasco on CSPAN, until 2330 hrs. I even skipped some Sportscenter for PBS programming (although, in my defense, The American Experience is a really well done show)!!

This past weekend, Baseball Tonight had an hour show, and I tried to watch, but just wasn't into it. Why not?? It's vastly more entertaining than anything else on television. I think that my brain was better served remembering the lineups of my favorite teams that it is now trying to make sense of politicians lying, cheating, scamming, and being generally debaucherous and then asking us to support them versus the next person.

Oh well, might as well give in and start buying Velcro shoes and wearing my slacks above my navel...
